Bamboo feed and fodder

Bamboo and its derivatives are a little known nutrient rich feed supplement for livestock, poultry and fish and an increase their consumption of bamboo will reduce feed crop cultivation on arable land and more food crops can be produced for more people. Small holders will benefit as bamboo as a feed supplement can reduce feed and fodder costs thereby increasing their incomes. This is the overarching goal of most government.

Chemical analysis/trials in Asia, Africa and the US show bamboo leaves, twigs and derivative supplemented feed have health benefits to livestock and poultry and can eliminate antibiotics in feed. Pilots on the ground show that small homesteads which rear fish in their ponds can reduce feed costs by up to 50% when they use bamboo leaves as feed.
